 Transferring stock and other equities directly to St. Peter’s Church as a method of giving can be very effective as part of overall tax planning. If you are looking to save on capital gains, you can gift your appreciated securities from your brokerage account to the church account, avoiding the tax liability. Your financial advisor should be very familiar with this type of gift giving and should be able instruct you to what would be your best options.
