About St. Peter's Choir and Choir School

St. Peter's Choir School is a musical program for boys and girls, age 8 through grade 8, based at St. Peter's Church. It is chartered by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York and is affiliated with the Royal School of Church Music.

Boys and girls receive musical and vocal training and weekly experience in the performance of the best sacred choral music spanning five centuries.

Special performances, including major oratorios with orchestra, take place two or three times each season.

The Choir has traveled to England six times to sing services in major cathedrals. Our most recent tours have taken us to Oxford and Worcester cathedrals. The Choir has also made several singing trips to the National Cathedral in Washington D.C. A 2017 trip to Chichester Cathedral is now in the planning stages.

Choristers receive a small salary, which increases based on proficiency and experience according to the training scheme of the Royal School of Church Music.

The Choir represents an opportunity for young singers to experience music making at a professional level and to enjoy the personal growth that such an opportunity affords.

The full choir, currently numbering about 40 singers, consists of these young choristers plus high school age and adult singers, many of whom received their early choral experience here at St. Peter's.

The Choir program is under the direction of Organist and Choirmaster Neil K. Keen, M.Mus., F.A.G.O.
