Course Offerings:
Overview of Holy Scripture:
Want to develop a firmer grasp of the story of Scripture? Desire deeper
fellowship with your parish family? Come join the Scally family at
their home Sundays @ 5pm to study God's Word together! We will start
with a study guide on the highlights of the biblical narrative, from
Genesis through Revelation. A potluck dinner will be served from
5-5:30, with the study wrapping up by 6:30. Study guides will be
provided by St. Peter's, and babysitting will be available. Our first
gathering will be Sunday, September 13th for food and fellowship, and
to hand out materials. Contact the Scallys
at coriannescally@gmail.com. Space is limited!
Simply Christian: Fr. Hartt and Mtr. Sue will co-lead a group study on Simply Christian: Why Christianity Make Sense, by N.T. Wright. “Have you ever wondered why humans in all places and times have yearned for beauty, truth, spirituality, and justice? Bishop
Wright contends that it is because we hear the echoes of God’s voice –
the same God who created the world, is known through the children of
Israel and Jesus Christ, and who is at work in the world through the
Holy Spirit. Connecting to this God through worship, prayer, scripture and the church leads to life that is full and abundant.”
Whether
you or someone you know is grappling with the Christian faith or would
like to commit yourselves more deeply, both will find this study and
our discussions invigorating and rewarding. The group will meet on Wednesdays beginning October 14th, 2009 with a light supper at 5:30pm concluding at 7:00pm.
Adult Confirmation Classes:
Beginning Sunday, September 13th we will begin instruction and preparation for a new group of confirmands. Confirmation
is a sacrament of the church that was originally part of the early
church’s baptism rite, now celebrated by Christians as early as their
teen years during which they make a mature commitment to their faith by
re-committing their baptismal vows and receiving new life in the Church
through the Bishop’s laying-on-of hands.
Adults
wishing to be confirmed or formally received into the Church this
autumn are encouraged to contact Fr. Hartt by September 13th for
scheduling.
Please
contact Fr. Hartt or Mtr. Sue at the Church office for more information.
